How it works
Three steps, and only the first one needs you.
Capture
Say it out loud or point a camera at it. A whiteboard, a receipt, a page of a book, a thought on a walk. There is no form to fill in and no decision to make about where it belongs.
Compile
One pass through a model turns it into Markdown with a title, a date, tags, a priority, and a workspace. It happens once, at capture. That is the only time Axiom uses AI.
Find
Full-text search across everything you ever captured, ranked, with the matching words highlighted. Reading and searching never call a model, so they are as fast as a database query.

Search that is instant
SQLite FTS5 runs on the server over titles, bodies, and tags. Results appear while you type, ranked by relevance, with snippets showing why each one matched.
Capture templates
Turn on Expenses and a photograph of a receipt files itself into a running note — after you confirm, never before. Nine templates ship: expenses, a monthly budget that keeps its own total, reading, meetings, workouts, recipes, people, health, and travel.
Editing that cannot lose work
Notes edit the way a word processor edits — formatted text, no Markdown to type, and no Edit button to press first. Formatting comes to the text: a bar over whatever you select, and a menu on a right-click or a long press. Edits save on a pause in typing, a note you change nothing in stays byte-identical, deleting is reversible, and a deleted note stays recoverable long after the undo toast has gone.
A calendar of your thinking
Every note carries the date it was captured — your date, not the server's. Browse by month and open any day to see what you were working on.
Keyboard first
⌘K reaches every route, every action, and every note by title. ⌘N starts a capture from anywhere. The whole app is navigable without a mouse.
Your notes, handled carefully
AI runs exactly once, when you capture — never while you read, search, or browse. Raw recordings and photographs are processed in memory and never written to disk. Nothing you write is sold, used to train a model, or shared with anyone.
Sending a note anywhere outside Axiom is something you switch on for that one note, never a default. And you can take everything with you whenever you like — every note exports as plain Markdown.

Can Axiom read my notes?
Your notes are protected by your account and encrypted in transit and at rest. Axiom never sells them, never trains models on them, and never shows them to anyone else. Because search runs on the server, note text is stored in a form the service can index — the privacy page sets out exactly what that means and who can see what.
Where does a capture go?
A photograph goes to one place: the model that compiles it. A recording goes to two, because it is transcribed into words first and then compiled. Axiom keeps neither the recording nor the transcript. Raw media is never written to disk.
Does AI run when I read or search?
Never. AI runs exactly once, during capture. Reading, searching, filtering, the calendar, workspaces, templates, and export are all ordinary queries.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Your notes live on the server so they are on every device you sign in to and searchable the moment they land. There is nothing to pair and no key to look after.
What happens if I want to leave?
Export downloads every note as Markdown in a ZIP, and deleting your account removes everything it holds. Export first — there is no other copy.
